About Pattern of Play
Why Pattern of Play Exists
Football is one of the most complex systems ever created — and yet most of the frameworks used to study it were built for a different game, in a different context.
Pattern of Play was built to change that. It's a body of work that applies systems thinking and organizational theory to football, with a particular focus on African football cultures and the tactical intelligence they've produced but rarely been credited for.
Who's Behind It
My name is Kwame Twumasi-Ankrah. I'm a football analyst and systems thinker who got tired of watching brilliant tactical ideas go undocumented. The Field Editions are my attempt to build a permanent, rigorous record of how football actually works — not just the highlights, but the logic underneath them.
Who This Is For
Coaches, analysts, and serious football thinkers who want frameworks they can actually use — for team building, game preparation, player development, or just understanding the game more deeply.
If you've ever felt like mainstream football analysis was missing something, you're in the right place.
